Composite Fillings

We all suffer from cavities once in a while for several factors. We may get cavities due to poor oral hygiene, because we eat too many sweets which invite bacteria, due to the accumulation of plaque and tartar, and various other factors. When you get cavities in your teeth, the dentist removes all of the decayed parts of your teeth and cleans the cavity to prevent dental decay from spreading. Following that the dentist applies composite fillings, i.e., tooth-colored composite resin material that seals the cavity. The composite resin looks just like teeth and no one can tell that you’ve received fillings.

Root Canals

Root canal is a procedure you have to go for if you fail to treat your dental cavities in time. If you allow the bacterial infection to spread, it can eventually infect your pulp chamber. When this happens, the dentist has to remove all of the pulp and infected nerves from the pulp chamber and then seal the cavity. This is the only way to prevent the decay from spreading further and to protect your teeth. In some cases, the dentist may recommend attaching a dental crown to protect the weakened tooth, especially if it’s a tooth that receives high impact due to chewing or grinding.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the best possible replacements for missing teeth. These are metal frameworks that are attached to the jawbone under the hollowed socket of the missing tooth. Since the metal framework or post is drilled into the jawbone, it essentially becomes a rooted part of your body. A dental crown or bridge is then attached over the dental implant to replace the missing tooth. This is the most effective and permanent way to replace your lost tooth.

I have seen Dr Grant several times. I had a wisdom tooth pulled. It wasn’t an easy process, tooth just had broken the gums and had been this way for years. Dr Grant did a wonderful job, I had no pain during the procedure or afterwards, only soreness. I’m now having a root canal done and have also been well taken of….no pain. He informs you of what he will be doing. He and all his staff are very friendly. It is so comforting to walk in the door and be greeted by smiling faces from the ladies at the front desk. I feel important as a patient, well taken care of and recommend Dr Grant to anyone who is in need of a great dentist.

Dentures & Partials

Dentures are removable appliances that you wear on your teeth. These are also used to replace missing teeth but they’re a lot more reasonable and doesn’t involve any surgeries. The teeth are mounted on a base made of a gum-colored material so it looks just like real teeth. Partials, in comparison, are partial dentures meant for people who have lost only some of their teeth. The biggest issue with dentures and partials is that they slide off your mouth easily and you have to take them off regularly to clean and maintain them. As such, they never feel like a natural part of your mouth but rather like an attachment.

Gum Disease

Gum disease is an issue in which there is plaque and tartar accumulation in your teeth and gums, which leads to gum disease and dental decay. Gum disease progresses in two stages — gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease when you have excessive plaque and tartar in your teeth and there may be some inflammation of the gums. Periodontitis is the next stage of gum disease when pockets form between your gums and teeth, which leads to gum recession. Gum disease is a chronic condition and it must be treated immediately or it will continue getting worse. Initial stages of gum disease can be treated with procedures like scaling and root planing. But if gum disease progresses further, you may need root canals or even complete tooth extraction.

Crown & Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are realistic tooth-like covers or replacements for your teeth. Dental crowns are basically caps that you attach over your existing teeth in order to conceal dental issues like broken teeth, chipped teeth, yellowed teeth, misalignment, etc. The dentist has to remove the external parts of your teeth in order to accommodate the dental crown. Dental bridges are a set of fake teeth that are attached to the dental crowns and they effectively replace missing teeth. Tooth-colored crowns and bridges are made of porcelain, ceramic, and composite resin materials.

Bone Grafting

Tooth loss is quickly followed by loss of bone structure in the hollowed socket. If you lose too much bone structure, then you can’t later get dental implants because the implants need to be attached to the jawbone. If you’ve lost too much bone structure already, the dentist may recommend a bone grafting procedure to help with bone regrowth. During the procedure, bone grafts are taken from other animals, other people, from another part of the individual’s body, or from synthetic materials and planted in the affected area. This eventually leads to bone growth, which makes it possible for you to get dental implants.
